ECI for Q3 = +0.8%

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the 3-month increase in compensation costs for civilian workers (nonfarm private industry plus State and local government) was 0.8 percent during the June-September 1999 period, following a gain of 1.1 percent in March-June.

Q3 GDP = +4.8%
Price deflator = +0.9%

Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States -- increased at an annual rate of 4.8 percent in the third quarter of 1999, according to advance estimates released by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the second quarter, real GDP increased 1.9 percent.

Weekly Jobless Claims = -15k to 278k

In the week ending Oct. 23, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 278,000, a decrease of 15,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 293,000. The 4-week moving average was 293,500, a decrease of 6,000 from the previous week's revised average of 299,500.
