RG, not to argue the point here too much, but you would need a transmitter liscence and equippent that would double as heater for your house if you were sending over microwave, also if all the subs were to do that the receiving antena ( at the ISP ) would be bombarded with signals and no-one would get through. As the diagram shows you will be sending over a land line ( telephone or cable) and receiving via air. My company was going to sell it but decided ADSL was better. Cable, microwave,ADSL all have unique features that are better than the other- some features are # of customer co-dependant eg when your service gets 50,000 subscribers you will be sharing that speed between you, as is the case with cable when the kids get home from school- forget it ( and the service is easilly hacked ).
Also one last thing, access speed and throughput speed are 2 different things ( which your ISP explains well) the important speed is that you see when you go to microsoft.com and download explorer, A friend has cable and I have ADSL +/- the same speed - my throughput was 10 x faster on a 1 to 1 test showing my ISP's internet pipe was the deciding factor.
On thing is for sure we should keep this quiet so we can keep the bandwith to ourselves ;-)
