Nice clip on Sun vs. HP ...
"..Cross-town rival Sun Microsystems on Oct. 14 reported fiscal first-quarter earnings excluding acquisition-related charges of $471.1 million, or 33 cents a share, from $113.9 million, or 14 cents, a year ago. Revenue growth blew the doors off analyst expectations, surging 25 percent to $3.12 billion from $2.29 billion as orders rose 19 percent.
Sun's Chief Executive Scott McNealy said at the time his company was making inroads against competitors, such as Hewlett-Packard and cross-country rival, International Business Machine Corp., Armonk, N.Y.
``If you take a look at Sun Micro, they're kicking butt and taking names,' Wu said. ``H-P's products aren't bad, they were just out-hustled and out-marketed by Scott McNealy and Ed Zander,' Sun's president and chief operating officer."
