Frank, forgive me...it's been a while since I dabbled over here. But permit these thoughts for a second.

Assume for a moment the following:

1) MSFT knew full well that the Street would pick up on the decrease in the Unearned Revenue account at some point after the hoopla of the earnings release calmed down.

2) Through their discussions with the DOJ and Judge Jackson, MSFT knew that a decision would be rendered in the near term...and would most likely not be entirely MSFT shareholder friendly.

3) There would be a significant amount of investor uncertainty regarding Y2K as we close in on the end of the year regardless of all the PR stating the world was safe.

If your Mr Gates and faced with these variables you would probably make a similar decision and give the green light for a "more bullish than normal" forward looking forecast at the earnings release.

Sit back and put yourselves in MSFT shoes, this trading makes sense. The Street is going to use this emotional volatility to their advantage and drive *material swings* in the trading price.

Don't be surprised if MSFT's stock starts a strong bullish run soon after Jackson's decision is rendered.

Just my opinions as always,
Teflon
