We all have our opinions
doctrinal stuff As for some of the specific doctrinal things that split up churches, it's not worth arguing about very much. There are parts that support many possible scenarios for the end times. People argue all positions until they are blue in the face, with Biblcal verses to back them up. It doesn't really matter all that much in the long term. We'll find out someday what exact happens out of the many posible permutations on can dereive from the Bible. I think it is much more important for people to focus on living honest and ethical lives after being freed from the bondage of sin.
Carmen song I don't listen to Carmen very much. Choose not to, saw enough with just one video at a church i used to go to. The preacher was quoting from a Barton book on history. Said that Jefferson was a Christian fundamentalist. People said "Amen/Ahlehulia" to that... Then he played a Carmen video as a follow-up. In the video a revisionist account of our founding fathers was presented. Advocated setting up a theocracy where the Bible was forced reading for everyone. Right from the CC. Lots of people loved it. But it was just political propaganda presented in the name of Jesus. Don't care what album it was on. I have seen enough, not to trust this guy at all.
giving things up Giving up secular artists is irrelevant. You categorization is invlaid. If you don't understand this, there's no point in continuing this discussion. Different churches advocate giving up different things (dancing, drinking, ...) This is not the thing to focus on. I think being truthful and honest is much more important.
Luckily, we do not have a theocracy here, so we can disagree and not have to worry about who is matching the official army supported position :-) Thank God for that. This really is nice. We can argue and be very much in disagreement but still be civil. God bless. |
