Exactly my point from the beginning.... modest preparations cost a few hundred to a few thousand depending on your desires and abilities.... a very cheap cost for peace of mind and hedge against trouble to save your family alot of possible pain.
There was never anything wrong with thinking nothing would happen-- only thing ludicrous is not endangering your family by not preparing at least a little in case you were wrong. A man's #1 responsibility is to protect his family at all costs and be ready not to rely on gov't benevolence that may involve packed gymnasiums or bread lines.
