Oils, Financials, Drugs:
In the beginning of 1999, the energy sector was the pits. Oil was going down in price, to historic lows. doom and gloom in the oil patch. Then the Arabs got their act together, and an upturn in Asian economies fueled world demand. The price of oil went back up and the energy sector had a HUGER move.
For most of 1999 the financials have been in the tank, fear of, and reality of rising interest rates kept banks and other financial depressed. Suddenly the interest rates concerns have been lifted and the financial sector has had a 10-15% rally in the past week or so.
The drug sector remains depressed. Many health care funds are down 10% or so year to date. My surmise is that this is the next sector to make a break-out move. JMHO. do your own dd. larry
