Thanks. I read a good post on another thread where someone explained the rally in a way that made sense... kind of...

He said the market is not so stupid they thought the report was good but it was the perception that the Fed is willing to change the formulas, play with the books etc so that there will be the impression that there is less inflation, good growth etc. ifthe Fed is willing to cook the books so things look good when they are not and adds liquidity every night after talking the market down, then they are still market friendly despite what they are saying.

ANyone else notice that counting the Government pension added about 3% to the personal savings rate. How is the SEC supposed to crack down on LU, IBM etc if the Fed itself is going to start counting beans a different way when they need to make numbers look good.
