Big Picture Technologies BPI (ASE) Big Picture Technologies on the ASE (Alberta Stock Exchange), if your not interested in what I have to say hit next, if you are, read on, it may be worth your while.
First I will say please do some diligence on your own after reading this.
Big Picture is a software company that specializes in web development software. They have 2 current products, a website development product called Mortar, and a Web Site management product called Smart Site 2.0. Both Products have received excellent reviews including 5 stars from ZDnet and 5 cows and cream of the crop from Tucows. They also have 2 more products coming out within a week. the first is version 3.0 of Smart Site. Big Picture has received very strong initial orders. (Ingram Micro is one of their distributors ingrammicro.com Ingram is the Worlds Largest Wholesale Provider of Technology Products and Services. Michael Anthony (President and CEO) is the ex President of Ingram Canada and more read here bigpic.com
The second product that is being shipped anytime now is called eMerchant pro - it is an e-commerce website in a box. Read the product features here: bigpic.com (pay particular attention to the telemarketing feature and the price as well as everything that is included, free web hosting, domain name registration, etc. all for $99.00 CDN. There is nothing comparable to the telemarketing feature or the features emerchant has bundled. 2/3 of people who go to an e-commerce website and start to fill a shopping cart abandon it. Telemarketing will alert the administrator of people filling a shopping cart, if the client pauses or takes too long it will alert them the customer may have a problem or question. The administrator can automatically pop up a chat window with the customer and ask if they need any help or need any questions answered. The customer may also pop up a chat window with the administrator. There is nothing else like this. Dell computers is picking up the product. It will be sold through their Giga-buys website gigabuys.us.dell.com. , it will be bundled with a featured e-commerce computer, and it may also appear on a web solutions center which features "best of" products.
In addition to Dell Computers picking it up I have found the product now at close to every software distributor website/ seller I have seen. It will be carried at compUSA Shop Online compusa.com Creative Computers / PCMall cc-inc.com SoftChoice softchoice.com. In addition to Dell, the sales through Ingram, and the other distributors Big Picture has signed a private label agreement for eMerchant pro for Group Telecom gt.ca, read Big Pictures Press release here newswire.ca
I would think the company will be seeking similar deals with American Telecoms. As well, I am speculating that Dell will be getting into the e-commerce web hosting business similar to the announcement by Micron Technologies ( stockhouse.com ) we all know how the pc manufacturers constantly reinvent themselves and copies what the others do. Micron bought a software co with software that isnt as rich in features as eMerchant so it has its solution to sell, Dell doesnt have a solution, but, they love Big Pictures Software, it is reasonable to think this may be a possibility.
The company has plans to IPO directly to the nasdaq in early 2000. It is also looking for aquisitions and additions to the Board. Personally I expect 4th 1/4 revenues to exceed the previous 9 months ending the year in the Black.
I have also called many web developers and asked them to review the eMerchant features page with me, all were more than a little impressed. There is also another product that is due to come out some time in late 1999 / early 2000 Ive heard, basically the telemarketing product but as a stand alone so that large e-commerce sites i.e. Dell, etc.... could add it to their existing ecommerce websites. I could go on and on it seems.
Some of this is speculative, much is real. I like the Company alot. Does this post belong here? Perhaps not, but Im also not into the pump and dump either. I will stay awayt from price predictions as well. Read the last 4 or 5 company news releases, take a look at the management, look at the numbers etc. The following is the shares outstanding as listed on Canada Stockwatch - Shares issued: 16,294,250 Exchanges: A You shoual also be aware as there is some 40 cent paper out there and some has been hitting the market. One house (JR) has decided to exit their position - alot of which has passed through the market. Others may choose to do some as well however I believe most see the "Big Picture". Dell has not made any formal announcements yet, knowledge of the Dell deal seems to be restricted to current shareholders as Dell did not allow Big Picture to use its name in a release yet, but they gave enough info for people to find who it is. There are also not alot of people following this yet on the threads, so even if knowledge is out there, I think it is restricted to the current shareholders overall.
Good luck on your diligence should you wish to do some.
