OptionVue users? Appreciate any feedback, both good and bad, about this software.

Short version: I tried the trial and liked it, a lot.

Pros: Tradefinder was invaluable in figuring out which strategies on a particular stock were safest or most profitable.("If the underlying goes to X by next month, am I better off buying the ATM call or doing an OTM vertical debit spread?" - that's the kind of thing you don't want to have to do a bunch of by hand.) Graphing of multiple/complex positions really useful - I feel blind without it now. Algorithms first-rate. Most everything customizable. Good, personal, 1-to-1 tech support.

Neutral/no opinion: Didn't use the "OpScan" search function - doesn't match my investing style. Didn't even look at the features having to do with options on futures, as I don't even dabble there.

Cons: Some clunky things in the user interface. Tradefinder needed a few more options to make it really, really useful (by limiting its output and being better able to change the underlying assumptions it's using). I had intermittent problems with NetVue access (their Internet delayed quote service) not being able to connect or transfer data.

Cost is high but justifiable for this sophistication and power ($995), but what will really get you are the addons (portfolio manager, real-time-continuous-quote interface, both around $400 IIRC) and the maintenance fees - $500-$1000+/year for NetVue quotes, database updates, new versions, support, etc. Ouch.

I haven't bought yet but am still considering it before the tax year-end.
