Misleading? Only because Apache supports virtual domains better.

Want to run 20 separate virtual domains? You'll need 1 copy of Apache or 20 copies of NetSite. If you've got resources to burn you can do that, but the growth in the ISP/IPP business is running lots of different virtual domains for customers. Apache does that simply and cleanly, which is why it is so popular.

You're absolutely right about declining margins forcing constant searching for the lowest-cost competitors. Another reason why Apache is doing so well.

Look at it this way: If web client and server margins trend towards zero (which they are) who will survive? MSFT doesn't need a dime from IE or IIS to remain successful. Can NSCP say the same?
