... Additionally, Chalem was a partner in two tanning salons in Fort Lee. And according to the National Association of Securities Dealers, Chalem also worked for two years for A.S. Goldmen & Co., an Iselin-based brokerage indicted in July on allegations the firm participated in a pattern of massive securities frauds that cheated thousands of investors out of nearly $100 million.

The firm, which received its mail care of Body by Boris, a Red Bank gymnasium, was charged with artificially driving stock prices up and down, charging excessive markups on stocks, using high-pressure tactics, and employing unlicensed salesmen.

Chalem was not licensed, but was not named in the federal indictment. ...
