notice the Notebook version of the P3 has 256K L2 cache instead of the normal 512K.

But this is on chip cache just like the Celeron and runs at full processor speed and when running at the same bus speed as previous versions of the PIII provides a 10 to 20 percent increase in performance for integer and floating point operations. Previous versions of the PIII had a 512k off chip cache that ran at one-half of the processor speed.
