Claude, every time silver goes up the Indian dower silver comes out of the woodwork as the indian social institutions slowly unravel and they get more westernized, and use less jewellery and the women get more free etc etc.
I see electronic uses dropping? what is your reference for increased use in electronics? It is used for contacts and as they are going to electronic switching the contact market goes away. It is a slow fade, I agree. The big fade will be film over the next 5 years as digital cameras penetrate to all corners of the earth. Even Kodak is changing over as they started late and got caught out and now are going as fast as they can. They see the small retail film business=dinosaur, but it will fade over the next 5-10 years.
How many records are sold now? Still some, but CDs rule. Same thing with film. Some will love it forever, and some have already deserted it.Once you leave fime you do not come back. Another thing, try to sell your old camera....the used camera market has gone to hell. One thing that did it was this new photo system they brought in. It made a crossroads....buy a new photo system film camera? or buy a new digital camera? More are buying digital. The rate of change is so high in digital that they drop in price by 30-40% annually as the pixel ratio grows.
High resolution black and white(15 million or more pixels per 35MM frame is still safe), as is 25 ASA high res color(8M pixels, more or less) but only for a few years. Right now I use a film camera and pay $10 for 25 prints...but I make 200 prints a year and I cannot justify a digital camera now. However if I start to sell stuff on e-bay and need to take 20 prints per week, I will go digital and never go back. If my camera breaks...I will buy digital There are many like me, so the change will be slow but inexorable.
