It's always killed me how people sneer at the bricks-and-mortar retailers, as if someone running a web site isn't going to have to have somewhere to draw stock from at SOME point! And Amazon, as I say, has been building millions of square feet of warehouse space. Interesting article I read a couple of weeks ago that posited that while conventional wisdom had always said the Web is going to cut out the middle-man, the wholesaler, it is really the retailer in the end who will be hurt. The big distribution companies, the wholesalers, are starting to realize that with the tools available now they can cut out the retailer, the companies like Cyberian Outpost, Micro Warehouse, etc! I mean, they need Merisell's warehouses and distribution contracts/contacts/knowledge more than Merisell needs their Web sites! And companies like Merisell are starting on that path. Will be interesting to see... WUWT
