So, does it really take 4-6 weeks to transfer your account to another brokerage? Are you able to make any trades during that time?

You can't make any trades while money is being transferred. I don't know how long it takes but I'm sure it will be a pain in the neck. I am going to send 1/2 my account to someone else like Ameritrade or Datek and try them out. I'll keep my mutual funds with MSDW. Now that I think about it, I better check their current schedule for mutual fund commissions. You can xfer cash or stocks. I don't know about mutual funds. My transfer instructions will say X dollars in cash from the money market account. I do like Discover but I'm not paying $30 a trade. If they plan to lower there rates they better say something soon before a lot of people cash out. I would appreciate any other info anyone has on the new MSDW. Dick
