AGreenspan does not have to worry about slowing down the economy. Everybody is getting hit with the Y2K wall and that's what is going to slow down the whole world.

Ergo, no interest rate hike this coming Nov 16 FOMC meeting.

** Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan suggested that he needs to see more evidence the economy is slowing in order to keep the central bank from raising interest rates again next month. "It is not clear as yet how much cumulative impact" the recent increase in interest rates -- driven both by market forces and the Fed itself -- "will have on future demand," he said in a speech delivered Thursday night to a group of corporate chief executives in Boca Raton, Fla. "Going forward, the Federal Reserve must monitor ... this response," he said.
