Since when did processes only last one year?

Deschutes came out in the beginning of 1998, and now CUNever-Mind has supposedly come out in October '99. Unless you count the .18 mobile chips as Intel's full fledged .18 process, but I thought those were "testing the waters"?

Do you think Intel wants to move to .13 fast because Willamette and I'm-Lateium will be so big?

This could negatively affect AMD next year.
