(CBS.MW) -- Tellabs said on Friday it will buy certain assets from DSP Software Engineering for $35 million in cash, boosting its ability to help Internet service providers improve voice capabilities.
Shares of the telecommunications equipment maker (TLAB: news, msgs) rose 2 1/4 to 63 1/4 on volume of 5.9 million shares.
DSP Software Engineering, based in Bedford, Mass., develops digital signal processing software for service providers to maximize use of bandwidth, lower costs and enhance audio and video quality.
Tellabs (TLAB: news, msgs) said it plans to integrate DSP's software into its AN2100 Gateway Exchange System>. |
