Intel's announcement is an endorsement of ARM architecture showing that ARM architecture is industry standard and that NSIL is at the right place at the right time.

NSIL uses NET+ARM which is based on ARM architecture as the NSIL link indicates

ARM Limited:
The CPU core is provided by ARM Limited as part of the Atmel offering. The ARM7TDMI core has been licensed by Atmel for integration into their ASIC library. The ARM architecture is based on Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) principles. The instruction set and related decode mechanism are much simpler than those of Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC). This simplicity results in a high instruction throughput and impressive real-time interrupt response for a small, cost-effective circuit. World-class global semiconductor manufacturers have licensed ARM's enabling architecture and technology because it is known as one of the best in the industry. What is NET+ARM?
A: The NET+ARM is a high performance device that has a 32-bit RISC processor; integral 10BaseT/100BasaeT Ethernet MAC; patented 10-channel DMA controller; dual fully independent serial ports; IEEE1284 parallel ports; flexible external bus interface and up to 24 programmable, general purpose I/O's. Performance ranges from 5MIP's to 40MIP's, depending on the specific device. All are packaged in a 208p PQFP.
