Little did we know at the start of the week, but this was the week to be fully invested (long) in the semi-equips. You couldn't miss making money - with only 2 exceptions. 34 stocks were up, 1 stayed the same and 1 was down. Those are the kind of probabilities where even I can make some money.<g> 8 of the stocks were up over 15 percent and 3 were up over 20 percent. At 20 percent compounded weekly, a person could go far in a short period of time. The group was up 10 percent while the SOX only managed an 8 percent gain. The last time this group sum was over 1100, it was the week of 10/10/97, a little over 2 years ago. The weekly high point for the group in 1997 was for the week closing 9/19/97 when it peaked at 1277. Since the group closed at 1113 today, the group gain required to reach 1277 is only 15 percent away.
