ARM picks up British software house Micrologic
Semiconductor Business News (10/29/99, 05:29:05 PM EDT) CAMBRIDGE, England -- ARM Holding Ltd. here today announced it has purchased Micrologic Solutions Ltd., a 25-person software solutions house also located in Cambridge. The purchase price was 1.1 million pounds cash ($1.7 million), with additional performance-related bonuses.
Micrologic is a private limited company, with revenues of 1.4 million pounds sterling in the ($2.2 million) in the year ended April 30. The company provides software and hardware development services and systems consulting for telecommunications, embedded control, digital protocols and real-time instrumentation applications.
"We are seeing increased demand for more than just RISC microprocessor cores -- optimized software is now an integral part of getting ARM core-based solutions to market quickly,? said Warren East, vice president of operations at ARM. ?By bringing on this additional software expertise, ARM will further enhance the ability of our application software group to meet these demands.
"We have worked with ARM on a number of projects over the last few years, so I am confident there is a very close fit in cultures," said John Halfpenny, CEO of Micrologic. "Our people have always enjoyed being involved in demanding projects and with ARM at the centre of so many exciting developments, we are all looking forward to the challenge.".
