Timing still eludes me. I've heard commentary on the dreaded "October Effect", with claims that the wisest strategy is to close out positions at the end of September and re-enter in November. But October was one of my best months of Wonder Year '99, with a return of 17.8%. So much for timing October.

Now, as we approach Q's earnings announcement date, people I respect for their market savvy are suggesting the best approach is to hedge, either by moving 50% of Q holdings to cash (in sheltered accounts) or writing DIM covered calls. I admit that I am tempted to lock in some of my returns, but dare I risk missing out on a repeat of the reaction to April's earnings report? I will wrestle with this all weekend, and would welcome input from the thread.

Fighting my MoMo tendencies,
