There is quite a difference in buying back a shorted position and to invest money into a viable company. Plain and simple.

I have shorted a company beginning with "R" some time back. I also covered because it was no longer falling on a weekly basis but simply did nothing. Would I ever have bought a long position? No.

Recently, it spiked again, so I have the opportunity to enter a new short position...

EOM and there is nothing to argue about. Noone goes bankrupt by cashing in gains.
