Looking at the players in trading listed stocks, I can't help but begin to think
that consolidation (i.e., merger) is not out of the question. From October's final numbers:

Rank Entity Mkt. Share

1 Merrill 10.1%
2 Salomon 8.5%
3 NITE 6.3%
4 Credit Suisse 6.1%
5 Morgan Stanley 5.1%
6 Goldman Sachs 4.9%

Is it out of the question that Merrill, or Morgan Stanley, or Goldman Sachs
would want to own the biggest NASD/OTC player and a top
listed stock player?
