The problem with putting all of your eggs in one basket (your one best idea) is that you could be wrong. Which, in the case of me, is more often true. You could get surprised by a problem that nobody anticipated. Look at Rambus or Lockheed. That's why should diversify and that's why I do. But, in retrosepct, all of the ins and outs I did this year has yielded me a poorer ROR than if I had bought QQQ. I believe the NASDAQ is up about 30% this year. I am in the mid-teens. But, this has been the most frustrating year I have ever faced. Last year, my ROR was 79% (my best). With the capital building up, I don't mind getting a lower ROR because the real bucks are bigger. But, I am very unhappy with my performance this year (as I said, the mid teens).
