<<Re: "Nortel set to unveil strategy for fibre-optic production."

Isn't this a trifle worrying? If Nortel is JDU's second biggest customer and they are planning to set up their own fibre-optic production facility, what will this do to JDU's sales to Nortel? We know that
demand currently outstrips supply, and JDU is expanding capacity as fast as possible, but if you are Nortel, you aren't used to being told to wait. It looks like Nortel wants to have control over at least
some of the production of the components that it uses.

This proposed new plant will take some time to reach production, and the market demand is growing so rapidly, I hope that this will not have a negative impact on JDU's revenue growth.

It could be taken as a testament to the growth of the demand for components, and this would be a good thing!>>

My understanding is Nortel wants the plant up and running as fast as possible. At the same time as we have heard during the CC last week KK told us that JDSU is going to expand production by 2-3 times the current production by the end of next year. Jozeph during the same CC mentioned 3-4 times, either way huge growth and what that tells me is that the raising of revenue target for FY00 to a 80-90% increase is a very conservative #.
My view Nortel is making a step while JDSU is making a leap.
I am sure that JDSU was aware of Nortels plans prior to the CC.

Glenn
