Those who create it." seems gateway may have it right... the 3rd slot problem may be confined to intel's motherboards. here is a link to a gateway mobo. i found this link at the yahoo message board last night. clearly shows 3 rimm slots. scroll down to the specifications and read the ram capacity. gateway seems to be flaunting 3 slots and memory capacity. the site is just a few days old. you can check this by right clicking on the picture, then click on properties and read the date created, oct 25, 1999. gateway.com
