DlphcOracl: Your points re Softbank (SFTBF) are very well taken IMO. The advantages you cite are there.

As I have mentioned before my weighting among the 4 nurturers is:

SFE and ICGE - horses in the rabbit stew

SFTBF and CMGI - rabbits

The reason SFE is a horse is that it has by far the most experienced management and has clearly demonstrated that its stockholders matter to that management through its making IPO's accessible to them. It also keeps a chunk of the stock of its children in house so that as they prosper (if they do), SFE stockholders prosper too. And the chance to buy in at the IPOs is a major benefit - a sort of dividend which is unusual and potentially very valuable. It also is the granddad of the mutual support after launch concept. It is the most pure "nurturer" of the 4 IMO.

ICGE is a horse because it is a child of SFE which is a pure B2B play and follows its parent's ways in mutual support of the companies it launches and networking of mutual support among them also. This gives the parts greater strength than if left out in the cold on their own while still young.

SFTBF is a good stock for the reasons you cite but its launch em and wave goodby aspects are a weakness to me.

CMGI is the weakest of the 4 IMO. The owners are much too front and center on their own ego trips and are just one small step removed from hucksters. (All just how it appears to me, and I may be very wrong - would appreciate others views) Yes they permit some slight participation in IPOs - maybe - after overcoming multiple obstacles and forcing the stockholder to use a company as a broker in which they seem to have a side interest. Appears self serving to me, not stockholder friendly. I just don't get a warm cozy feeling about those guys. And to me management is key - particularly if they are managing my money. The stock price may do OK. In any event, I have some stock in them to see how they do and perhaps they will do well.

Since we are all new here and learning as we go, I have put my views as of now out for all of you to comment on. I may well be way off. My facts may not be accurate - though I think they are. And my opinions may be based on misconceptions or misunderstanding.

Please chime in folks.
