You are right, I mis-remembered. The problem with the anypoint is that you cannot be connected to a regular 10/100base-t network if you are using anypoint. I read a review somewhere, that I can't quickly find, that was quite put off by that issue. Since, for me, that would have cut me off from my home network - which is how I share internet connections among my computers, I had recalled it as precluding a shared connection. Maybe it has since been corrected. Although this precludes its use at home by some of us, it wouldn't affect most people.

So please accept my apologies for the error in that post - the anypoint is a fine way to share internet connections at home for most people.
