It looks like direct competition with SUNW will be delayed
until Intel can field its Itanium (Merced) 64 Bit processor
with sufficient software to support high end enterprise applications. So it could be a while.....

Looks like Intel and HWP underestimated the difficulty of producing a 16/32/64 bit compatible processor.
