Moving up on no news and increasing volume. What happened Friday?
Spyglass? record revenue results underscored the fact that the company is on the verge of a rapidly expanding market, the internet appliance market. Central to the success of Spyglass is the establishment of services centers and the licensing of the Nokia WAP browser technology.
Spyglass currently has two service center agreements, with Microsoft and General Instrument, and it is anticipated the company will continue to add similar agreements over the next fiscal year. Additionally, Spyglass is starting to develop relationships with the vendors and suppliers associated with Microsoft and General Instrument through the service centers, which will strengthen and diversify the revenue streams generated from the initial agreements.
In addition, the partnership with Nokia to license the Nokia WAP browser for internet appliances has yet to reap revenue rewards. The WAP browser, much like the Internet browser, will be commoditized, with the real value becoming the associated services and customization with the browser, which is an area of specialty for Spyglass. It is anticipated Spyglass will focus on developing applications for the Nokia WAP browser, which it will then be able to market without having to pay a royalty to Nokia. There is value to this relationship that has yet to be realized as the browser can be applied to mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), and other devices that rely on wireless communications.
I can't wait until next week. |
