Mohan: Hope POPE WHOOPS IT UP IN INDIA It appears that the organizing committee has taken steps not to offend the Hindus by inculturation. All the events seem to portray the Indian cultural dominance. This must be a new experience for the pope. Would this be sufficient to placate the staunchest among the Hindus? This Aarati, the Light dispelling the dark , the Indian dances, the vests with Diwali Logo etc are dominant Hindu themes welcoming the Pope. It appears that Christianity in India is taking on a new look and role to play in the world of Christianity. I have seen some Indian Muslim and Christian marriages. Somehow these ceremonies have some aspects common with Hindu Marriage ceremonies.
