Volt, I understand your covered call strategy exactly

but first, I am a theoretical BellCurve Mathematician... never bothered though by intractible math integrals... just pull out some numerical iteration for solution... my pet peeve is "integrating numbnuts and other socially intractibles into a mainstream"

you benefit nicely on sold calls if Q drops at earnings or after... you also hold your long position

you benefit partially on net position if Q rises... you benefit less if Q rockets, but you do benefit... you also hold your long position

the strategy removes you essentially from a great deal of the volatility... but if Q rises more than a little, the losses on the bought back covered calls results in an increase in your cost basis for long positions in a sense, and provides a tax loss

the big dogs eschew such a strategy because you dont run with the big dogs... you only skip along with risk removed for most part

your choice, it must work for you
I hear you still wear lots of gold chains, Italian shoes, Armani shirts, and nifty leisure suits on weekends

hey Kinkaid, quit slapping your dic- on the table
it is a matter of choice to neutralize risk to volatility
have you ever lost big on options at earnings announcmts?

case closed for me
