I keep a copy of Island's book (from them - www.isld.com/BookViewer/) open and too often there were discrepancies between what they showed and what QCharts showed. Most frequent are 'stale' entries appearing in QCharts' version but on occasion I've seen entries missing from QCharts' version. The former was virtually a daily occurence (I've quit using QCharts' version but based on Onelist emails I've seen & msgs here the problem still exists). The latter is less frequent but more dangerous as you may not perceive a bid/ask to be there, it could be for very few shares, you could place an order at that bid/ask and end up with a tiny fill when you thought no one was there.

We don't disagree that Island is a much better indicator of a stock's movement than T&S in fast markets (and slow ones for that matter). And its absolutely critical for pre- or post-market. Its 'honest' in that 'backing off' is less frequent there. I depend on Island. That's why I need a reliable picture of the book.

Whether or not Quote.com will overcome their problem is questionable. Last I read the problem was with their connection to Island (indeed, we were advised to use a Herndon server rather than one on the West Coast for this reason not too long ago) and I don't know that Quote.com has much control over that.
