It IS a large class. Class size reductions are only through 2nd grade in our district- in 3rd grade the class size max is 32. Awful!

I was exhausted afterwards- but I had it planned down to the minute (with a schedule - which was handy since the regular teacher was sick and there was a substitute).

Winter party is next. For that I found a mom who quilts- and we are going to quilt a class Holiday quilt - each square will represent something special about the Holidays to each individual child- each child makes their own square. We are also going to make Santa pens- I had it explained to me by the mom who is going to do it but I still don't understand it. I planned all our parties at the beginning of the year- calling all the parents and asking them to volunteer for one Holiday- or the end of the year party (of course many volunteered for more than one). When I began to describe my vision of creating a memorable last year for our children in elementary school the outpouring of talent was awesome. People want to contribute- they just want to make sure they are getting a bang for their contribution buck or hour or whatever- and I've let the parents decide what to give- whether it is time, or goods, or ideas- and by not pressuring them I have gotten more than I could have imagined.

It reminded me of Stone Soup with the mushrooming contributions and the overflowing good feelings. I am very proud of the parents in my daughter's class.

Next week we start our first fundraiser- I am also in charge of fundraising. We are selling tupperware. I love tupperware. I should buy the stock I suppose. I think somebody that we know recommended it- but I can't remember who.
