Bill,

Re: "Paul, Do not the new cassettes that hold the wafers allow for
piecemeal upgrades? An 8" component can have a 300MM replacement installed ..."

No Bill, its a much bigger job than just the wafer handling. Equipment
chambers (etch, deposition, and RTA) are sized for 8" as will be the
quartz tubes for all the furnaces. The wafer chucks on the resist
spinners and wafer stages on the scanners will all need to be upgraded.
Many on these upgrades require a larger chassis and thus a larger
equipment footprint. Moving from 200mm (8") to 300mm (12") is a
very "big deal" and will cost a lot of money.
