So sorry to disappoint you. As far as I know, the purple water fountain was never famous for anything other than being purple. Actually, as I recall, it was a plum color, but it's been a very long time since I drank from it.

Over the years, I've seen it mentioned a few times as local color in novels and film. I think it may have gotten a mention on the X-Files. Just one of those urban legends. That part of the Pentagon was also known for rats the size of cats, and I can personally attest to their existence, as well.
