MGI Software Dominates Worldwide Retail Channels for Windows Consumer Photo Editing Software

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1999--MGI Software Corp. (TSE:MGI) the company that pioneered PC photography and Internet imaging, today announced it captured the lion's share of worldwide retail unit shipments, and revenue earnings of Windows-based consumer photo editing software in 1998. The company's PhotoSuite line of PC photo software garnered an industry leading 38.3% share of unit shipments and a 28.3% share of revenue. Market researcher Dataquest, San Jose, Calif., made the findings in its September 1999, "Photo Editing: One Size Does Not Fit All" report.

According to the Dataquest report, MGI Software gained its position as a worldwide leader by securing the largest percentage of revenue and retail unit shipments in U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific. Interestingly, Live Picture, recently acquired by MGI Software, came second overall with 12.8% of unit shipments and 20.1% share of revenue.
