Wireless Web Reservations in the Palm of Your Hand
SqueezeNet and Syvax Join Forces
OAK RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1999--Syvax Inc. and SqueezeNet have announced their partnership to enable real time reservations over the web with Palm OS wireless devices, such as QualComm's pdQ Smartphone. The companies also plan on offering similar services for Windows CE devices and PCS web enabled phones.
SqueezeNet, which operates its wireless Internet portal at SqueezeNet.com, offers valuable real-time services for wireless PDA users. SqueezeNet provides access to a wide range of content and applications tailored to multiple wireless devices.
Syvax, which operates the HandRes.com website, will be offering real-time travel, lodging, and entertainment reservation services for wireless devices in late 1999.
''What makes this a great alliance,'' comments Walt Arp, SqueezeNet's President, ''is that people who access the wireless web, now have the opportunity to get information from SqueezeNet, and then actually act on it right then and there. After all, why tease someone with information through the wireless web, only to make them go back to their PC to actually complete the transaction?''
The partnership between Syvax and SqueezeNet is coming at a time when there seems to be more demand for Internet access ''anytime, anywhere, with any device.'' The service that will be offered by Syvax and SqueezeNet is especially attractive since nothing has to be downloaded or setup ahead of time to make the reservations. SqueezeNet's ''nothing to download, just point and go'' strategy is the main reason that people prefer SqueezeNet's web site to the alternative: subscribe to channels or download ''clippings.''
Eric Stroud, President of Syvax, is also pleased with the opportunities that the alliance enables. Mr. Stroud states, ''Wireless PDA users will be able to conveniently navigate through our combined content. Users need only point their browsers to one site for all their business, travel, and entertainment essentials.''
The only question now is what other applications will be ''squeezed'' into the wireless web?
