Jenne. Regarding Motorola announcement of base band processor:
1)Announcement is timed for eve of QCOM's earnings report.
2)Annnouncement says it won't ship until end of year 2000.
3)It is believed to be be based on an electronic tuning technique that gives inrerior reception in all modes per this link:

Given the returns and poor quality on MOT's CDMA Star Tac, the suit between MOT and QCOM, and the timing this announcement should be viewed with a great deal of scepticism because it may well be self serving propaganda

I might add that MOT does use propaganda. Before I focused my phone investment in QCOM (selling the others), I spent some time on the MOT SI thread. There are 3 or 4 MOT lifers or Company shills there that launch personal attacks on anyone that questions MOT.
