In 1929 the first switchboard operator was hired. She didn't like the job but she kept plugging away. In 1933 a restaurant in New York catered only to women. They served Miss Steaks. In 1869 walnuts were first grown in America. Some people thought they weren't all they were cracked up to be. In 1968 miniskirts became popular, and worried husbands said the thigh's the limit. In 1946 a speech was given by a congressman aboard an aircraft carrier; the sailors received a deck-oration. In 1890 used Dromedaries were sold in Arabia, in a place called Camel lot. In 1911 an advertisement appeared for a pill to cure headaches but people found it hard to swallow. In 1949 the first tightrope walker was hired by a circus. He was high strung. In 1883 the first bakery opened on the yeast coast. In 1951 vegetable farmers from all over the world held a meeting. It was the first peas conference.
