Dion Entertainment Corp. - Larson reports progress on Gameshow negotiations
SURREY, BC, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Dion Entertainment Corp. (the ``Company') (TSE:DIO) - Mr. Glen Larson, newly appointed to the Board of Directors of Dion Entertainment Corp., is proud to report significant gains pertaining to technical issues of importance to the networks. At this point, he is addressing and has targeted several key changes which, at the request of the networks, will skew a younger demographic for television than the original version he presented. Once Neilsen ratings have been established, demographics generally are the last step the networks use to mathematically quantify what the program's potential audience will be. This then translates into potential revenues and ultimately determines how profitable the show will be. ``We have been working non-stop to meet the network's requests and to address changes that will enhance the show. The response from the network team has been extremely positive, and they, too, are eager to reach the point where the show is ready to go to air.' ``I understand that there is a level of impatience to announce a contract, but the process in Hollywood is unique. First, all efforts concentrate on perfecting the production; the paperwork comes last. The fact is we've now done almost everything required to meet the technical demands. Right now the networks are very motivated to develop gameshows. The selling season for drama and sitcoms is over and there is now a high degree of pressure among the networks to compete head to head with top-rated gameshows like Millionaire by signing the hottest new gameshow. I'm thrilled with our product and I think we have the show that will meet that challenge. Now it's only a matter of details to get a deal signed. After that, the show could go to air within a short period of time.' Larson says that his high level of confidence in being able to reach a deal was the deciding factor in accepting the appointment to the Board of Directors of Dion Entertainment Corp. ``I'm very confident that I can get the network deal done. The Company will have great potential beyond this one contract and I want to be an integral part of it all. The great thing about this type of gameshow project is its potential longevity.' President Leo Dion also commented on the matter of the injunction that was filed against Border Capital Corp. and its related parties, although Dion Entertainment Corp. was not one of the parties who filed for the injunction. ``The judge has ruled in favour of granting the interlocutory injunction against Border Capital Corp. and its related parties with standard conditions attached.' The Company continues to pursue its goal to be the largest and most diversified bingo entertainment company in the world. -0- 11/01/1999 |
