hey ed, pretty neat sites. i tested my connection immediately on 'computing central'. came back at 46 kbps. :( then flipped over to 'toast' where i was reminded (instructed) to clear cache. the text toast came in at 130 kbps, the graphics toast at 106. i immediately returned to the first site, 'computing central', that had given me the disappointingly low 46. i came out with a 186 kbps the second time! <g3> the "barnacle" browser tests from yesterday had produced a 96 kbps average over 4 sites. i lumped everything together to come up with about a 112. so far i've learned that results definitely vary and clearing cache prior to running the test really increases the throughput. and i see that there is much more research, testing and investigation to do if one is so inclined. :) mark
