VersaTel Posts 285 Percent Revenue Growth In 3Q99

Financial Highlights:
 Third quarter revenues increased 285 percent to NLG 39.0 million over 3Q98 revenues. 3Q99 revenues increased 65 percent over 2Q99. Excluding Svianed, revenues were up 110 percent over 3Q98 and 20 percent over 2Q99.
 Data and Internet revenue comprised 42 percent, of total revenues for 3Q99, representing substantial growth over 2Q99 when 25 percent of revenues were data and Internet.
 Directly connected, on-net customers represented approximately NLG 0.6 million in revenue for 3Q99.
 Gross margin as a percentage of revenue increased 479 basis points from 3Q98, and 236 basis points from 2Q99, to 25.5 percent for the third quarter of 1999.
 VuurWerk is the leading web hosting company and registrant of domain names in The Netherlands and generated NLG 5.8 million in annualized revenues, representing 254 percent quarterly growth, at a gross margin of 65 percent.
 Total customers increased to over 20,000 at the end of the third quarter, up from 16,000 at 2Q99.

Operational Highlights:
 Completed first STM-64 fiber-optic ring in The Netherlands, the Randstad ring, spanning 440 km with line speeds of 10 Gbps.
 Completed construction on approximately 1,425 km of fiber ready duct (8 duct construction) for the Benelux Overlay Network with 822 km of fiber installed and 480 km of fiber operational.
 Completed construction on five business park rings and one city ring representing over 60 km of operational local access fiber.
 Completed first ADSL trial in The Netherlands with 25 customers in Rotterdam: only alternative carrier in trial phase.
 Signed agreements with over 80 customers to directly connect them with fiber to VersaTel's broadband local access network.
 Connected first VersaTel ATM customer, Arthur Andersen, to the network with four direct connections.
 Launched one of the first national providers of free Internet service in The Netherlands, Zon, with over 140,000 subscribers added in the first seven weeks.
 Connected Rotterdam DMS switch to the VersaTel network.
