I don't know the history.

AMD got the EV6 right?
VIA KX133 uses the EV6?

If iNTEL saw a possibility on the EV6, they would have jumped earlier.

I'll have to defer the technical overlap (if any) between the VIA Apollo Pro and the AMD specific slotA chipsets.

Initially I would guess iNTEL doesn't have a leg to stand on concerning AMD Athlon chipset.

If VIA did steal iNTEL's P6 then they should be stopped.
