"Sales of AMD Athlon microprocessors are highly dependent upon the availability of chipsets and motherboards from Taiwanese and other

suppliers. Taiwan is currently recovering from a major earthquake that occurred on September 21, 1999. The earthquake resulted in an interruption of power to our suppliers' manufacturing facilities that contributed to a severe shortage of motherboards in the last week of the third quarter of 1999 which adversely affected our sales of AMD Athlon microprocessors.
