Players, coaches and managers who bet on their own sport undermine the integrity of their game. Nobody wants to go to a baseball game or a basketball game or even a tennis match if they suspect the game is fixed. The integrity of the contest is not in question if the rightfielder is a recovering drug abuser. But if the rightfielder bet on the game, fans wonder if he struck out on purpose his last time up.

Betting on your own sport is explicitly forbidden. It's the cardinal rule of all professional sports.
