Are we allowed P.S.'s to our interpretations of your dream? I already had my shot, but something in Madame Cobe's interpretation, which I liked a lot, made me think of something else, an elaboration on my earlier thought that the dream contains a lot of language and imagery suggestive of its being to a significant degree informed by feelings associated with SI.

(I said in my earlier post, "It seems to me that in this dream there is an assortment of images that suggest anxiety, even fear, about the expressive (word-) life represented by the pull (attraction) of the thread.")

Your mention of the "thread" that was associated with opening and closing the cut "like a mouth," was the most obvious clue that the SI threads were referenced.

But Cobe pointed out something that just struck me, when she said your life line was not cut across, but along it. On it. So, in the way dreams sometimes drop hints, that may have been another verbal hint (dreams give lots of those) of the "thread" type. The cut was not across, but on (the) line. "On line."

I particularly liked Cobe's series of questions in the last couple of paras about the shiny things; and also about others laughing, but not you, as someone uses "your hand, your life, your mouth."

What everyone seems to be struck by is the fact that the hand is the way you are speaking, whether via a "thread" and "on line," or in your other writings, which you have been thinking about recently; or in both.

You have such interesting, rich dreams, penni. And you actually remember them. I wish I remembered mine. Sometimes I remember an image or two, usually mundane, or an emotion. Never a developed story.
