Saturn, re: "provide a product to make the task of Computer upgrading less painful."
Painful (?), you just need a system!
The last time I changed home PC's, I spent countless hours loading all the software onto the new PC (mostly by disk, I've got a lot of old DOS program that I haven't used in 3 years, but know I will need someday). Next, I transfered files by disk from the old PC to new PC, this is really a fun use of a free weekend (much better than golf). At that point I still know there is indispensable stuff buried on the old PC, so I keep both up and running, next to each other, for at least six months. Finally, I remove the old PC to it's final resting place in the guest bedroom closet.
It's always hard to get a consumer to spend his hard earned money, any minor objection can kill a sale cause folks just don't like to sign checks. It is in the best interests of the industry to remove any objection the purchaser may encounter, or even imagine he might encounter.
I know when I buy a new computer, my emotions are always "what a hassle this is going to be". No excitement, all negative.

OT: Damn shame about Walter Payton. I had season tickets to the Bears games for his entire career. The man was pure class on and off the field, a true player whose skill was only exceeded by his heart and desire. |
